New Northern Dumplings - I think my stomach can handle Mainland restaurants

I'm not a photographer, I'm just good with numbers

Date visited: June 10, 2012

Time: Around 1 pm to 2 pm

Party Size: 7

Price: $4.99, before tax, for myself

Total for 7 people after tax. Not even sure if they report the HST to CRA. Chinese mentality: extra 13% in my pockets, they can't trace cash transactions. They will receive a notice for an HST audit from the CRA soon.
Food consumed:
- Minced pork and soya paste noodle

Stupid me, mixed the noodles before taking a picture, a blogger's biggest mistake.
Review of Restaurant: This was all the way back in June 2012 and I am blogging about it now. Kind of hard to remember what exactly happened to me stomach. I'm judging based on my stomach's reaction to this post. So far it is emotionless, therefore I can safely conclude that this restaurant did not scar my stomach. Or simply, that my stomach's memory was suppressed. Also, two other people had the same meal as me and did not complain.

New restaurant means clean for now....it will soon feel the wrath of my stomach

VERDICT: Even during wartimes, there are peaceful days. This is one of those peaceful days. My stomach was well rested until the next battle.

Funny YouTube video

Made me LOL. Just had to share this.

Warning! Warning! NOT FOR THE FAINT OF HEART Warning! Warning!

What if...

What if the restaurants' owners discover my secret identity?

- Will they post pictures of me and tell their staff to be wary of me?
- Will they make me disappear?
- Will they collude together and poison me so I will stop blogging about them?
- Will I get special treatment so they appear on my safe list?
- Will they hire a hitman to take me out?
- Will they hire a Chinese spy to kidnap me, bring me to China and feed me Chinese food till I diarrhea out my instestines?
- Will they hire Bryan Mills (played by Liam Neeson)?

Time will tell. In the meantime, I can look forward to eating my next meal at Mr. Ho's house. I think I will dip all the food in alcohol for extra measure and take some Pepto-Bismol.

I never had Pepto-Bismol before. I rely on Chinese medicine. Maybe that's why it is not working.

Fisherman Clubhouse Restaurant - Awareness Post

I have honestly never been to this restaurant. It is always packed with people eating lobsters and other seafood.

I just wanted to bring this to people's attention:

October 25, 2011: Improper maintenance of washroom. Enough said. That is where I will spend most of my time during dinner.

Sugar Sweet Cafe - Definite Ban

Date visited: Many times

Time: N/A

Party Size:Various

Price: Dirt cheap

Type of restaurant: Hong Kong cafe style

Food consumed:
Usually I have the Chinese style steak (a very thin slice of beef and they call it steak, I like to call it beef bacon). They are served on a sizzling plate in the shape of a cow. Black pepper is my preferred choice of sauce. It is also served with steam vegetables (1 carrot stick and 1 broccoli), Russian borscht and rice or spaghetti. Bang for your buck right? (Silly rabbit, they also serve food poisoning!)

Pictures of food consumed:
None taken at the time. I did not think of creating a blog during that time. I regret it but REFUSE to return there for the reason below.

Review of Restaurant:
I used to frequent this restaurant often. The waitress are snobby, they look down on customer with CBC accents. They are very rude as with many Chinese restaurants.

One day, I was walking on the sidewalk and the waitress was turning into the plaza to go to work. She almost ran me down. This is why I refuse to return there. Typical Asian driver, but I'm not giving my money to that place. There are other HK style cafe around that are better.

Another reason was because I got food poisoned. I ordered a sizzling plate with chicken and black pepper sauce. This was like back in 2008 or 2009. The meat wasn't fully cooked and I got sick. I went to the doctor and sent my stool samples. I gave them the name of the restaurant and they did their inspections. Unfortunately, no conditional pass was issued. They probably got a heads up on the inspection and sanitized their whole kitchen.

I guess they got lazy because I found this on the City of Toronto DineSafe link:

3 conditional passes within 2 years, that's a record so far. The last record holder was Chinese Dumpling House. Why am I so unlucky with Chinese restaurants?

Chicken steak with black pepper sauce

Review of Restaurant: I lied. I came back.

Two reasons:
1. FD suggested this restaurant, can't refuse this invite.
2. To document the experience and use my camera. FD is an avid photographer and was able to teach me how to take good pictures. *Props to him*

I am proud of my pictures. I know they might not win a Pulitzer Prize but I tried my best.

No washroom disaster but it is still banned. Once tainted, always tainted.

VERDICT: BANNED!!!

Joey Don Mills - Food is safe but service may cause diarrhea

Date visited: November 3, 2012

Time: 6:45 pm

Party Size: 20

Price: $27.33 after tax and tips (tips was fixed at 15% cause we had a large party size)

Food consumed:
- $5.50 pint of Sapporo (special on Saturdays)
- $15 for Mushroom Cheddar Burger served with Freedom Fries (no onions on burger - I absolutely hate onions)

I need to invest in a DSLR. Maybe I should start a non-for-profit charity about raising awareness on food poisoning, especially in CHINESE restaurants. Funds will be used to purchase a DSLR. Donations will be issued, obviously.
Review of Restaurant:
After 24 hours of dining at Joey Don Mills, no diarrhea. It is on my safe list, which was expected since it's a Caucasian restaurant.

The short review wouldn't be interesting without telling you about the service. We packed up and walked towards the exit when one employee asked: "How was the service today?". I replied back, "It was okay......" I felt a nudge from a friend, which I took as "let's go, stop talking to her". I told her: "Sorry, I gotta go now, bye!" and I left. My other friend stopped and started talking to her, telling her about the service:

1) It was really unorganized, the waitress asked for our names for the orders. They did not know who to give the food to.
2) Someone asked for ketchup, the waiter did not know who to give it to
3) It took a long time for the drinks to arrive
4) It took a long time for the bills to come and to pay
5) When we were about to leave, the waitress came up to us and said someone did not pay. We later found out that the cash went "missing". After a lengthy discussion between the birthday girl and the waitress, she went to talk to her manager and came back saying it was okay.

Based on those factors, the experience wasn't the best even though they charged a 15% mandatory service charge for hosting a large party. Seems like the service wasn't on par with the service charge.

Anyway, the manager came out and spoke to the birthday girl. Was very nice and offered a $50 gift card. I would not return back even though I had a $50 gift card, just didn't hit the mark.

City of Toronto Inspection Report

Here's a copy of their past inspections from the City of Toronto. There is an infraction at the beginning of 2012. Minor compared to the Chinese restaurants in my other posts.
