Review of Restaurant:
  • What did I think of the burger/service/overall?

Ranked #3 on Toronto Life's 2012 burger ranking, I expected the food to be a lot better. Firstly, the fried chicken was not as hot as I expected it to be. It felt like it was left out of the fryer for 10 mins to cool down before passing it over to us. The fries on the other hand were soft and the type that I like and they do give a generous portion of fries.

The burger was supposed to be the main star but I was utterly disappointed. The patty was as dry as McDonald's and that's an big insult that should be taken personally. The crazy thing is that I couldn't taste the red onions and I have a thing against onions. A big thing against them. If I had the money, I will create a show about killer onions.

  • How did my sensitive stomach feel?

Very very disappointed. I wished I could get food poisoned and shut it down for failing this city. I would give them a second chance and try a different burger and possibly the fried chicken and waffles.

Review of Restaurant:
  • Why did I come to this restaurant?

My friend and I were deciding on a restaurant that won't break the bank. He suggested Mystic Muffin for its friendly atmosphere and great food at an affordable price.

It is also the second highest rated restaurant on Yelp in Toronto, with a rating of 4.5 stars out of 5. Keep in mind that Yelp reviews can never be fully trusted with exercising professional judgment.
  • What did I think of the food and service?

We arrived at noon and were one of the first ones there. The owner took the time to chat with us and mentioned that he had a sore back. Poor fellow, hope he recovered. I informed the the owner that it was my first time at Mystic Muffin and he recommended the Chicken Potato Falafel.

As a first time guest, you receive a complimentary slice of apple muffin. Please don't lie to the owner just to get the muffin.

At the checkout, we noticed that the chocolate banana bread were fresh off the oven and both bought one loaf to share with our co-workers and family. The place never really filled up with its limited seating, must have been a quiet Thursday for them.

The food was as described on Yelp, no fake reviews except for the review about the store being closed (Why do you give a bad review cause it's closed, you didn't eat the food). The falafel was very soft and tasteful. Soft from the potato, tasteful from the chicken and special sauce. Apple muffin was moist and full of apple flavours, wished I bought an entire plate. The chocolate banana bread was delicious and on par with the apple muffin. Moist, chocolatey and full of banana flavour. It also makes a great breakfast item.
  • How did my sensitive stomach feel?

Over the span of several days of mostly due to rationing the delicious chocolate banana bread, my stomach was sad that we ran out of the bread. Sad Keanu is sad.
